The Infilling of the Holy Ghost With the Evidence of Speaking in Tongues

Woman worshipping with tears in her eyes and hands lifted while receiving the Holy Ghost during an Apostolic Pentecostal church service inspired by Acts 2:38.

There are many opinions in today’s world about salvation, repentance, baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. But as Apostolic Pentecostals, we believe the Bible is the final authority, and the Word of God clearly shows the pattern God established for salvation through repentance, baptism in Jesus’ Name, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

The Book of Acts was not just history written for information. It was the birth

of the New Testament church. It was the beginning of the church Jesus established, and the same power that fell in the upper room is still available today.

The Bible says: Acts 2: 1-4

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord

in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,

and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon

each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Notice the Scripture does not say only a few spoke in tongues. It says they

were ALL filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues

as the Spirit gave them utterance. Speaking in tongues was not emotionalism, hype, or something man created. It was the outward evidence that God’s

Spirit had filled them.

Peter stood before the people and preached the message of salvation.

Acts 2:38

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one

of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and

ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

This was not a suggestion. This was the response given when people

cried out asking what they must do to be saved.

Repentance is turning away from sin.Baptism in Jesus’ Name is for the

remission of sins. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God dwelling inside of us.

And throughout the Book of Acts, we continue to see the evidence of

speaking in tongues connected to receiving the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:44-46

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which

heard the word.

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished... because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.”

Again in Acts 19, Paul asked believers if they had received the Holy Ghost

since they believed.

Acts 19:6

“And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them;

and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

The Holy Ghost is more than a feeling. It is the Spirit of God transforming a life

from the inside out. It convicts, leads, comforts, strengthens, and separates

us unto God.

Romans 8:11

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,

he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies

by his Spirit that in you.”

We are living in an hour where people want church without conviction,

worship without surrender, and salvation without obedience. But God is still

calling people back to the Book of Acts. He is still filling hungry hearts with

the Holy Ghost.

He is still delivering, restoring, healing, and setting captives free.

This promise did not end with the disciples.

Acts 2:39

“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,

even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”

That includes us today. The Holy Ghost is not reserved for a certain race, background, age, or social class. It is for whoever will surrender their life to

God and believe His Word.

You do not have to leave church the same way you walked in. You do not have

to stay bound by addiction, depression, fear, shame, or your past.God still fills people with the Holy Ghost.God still changes lives.God still speaks.

And Acts 2:38 is still the plan of salvation today. All Scripture references

are in accordance with the King James Version of the Bible and Apostolic

Pentecostal doctrine.
